Dear CUPA-HR Members,
Welcome to the DC Metro Chapter of the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR). Comprised of members representing a vibrant mix of public and private higher education institutions throughout the DC Metro area. We strive to support our members in their growth and development as human resource professionals, recognizing the complexities of higher education and the diverse members that we serve.
Please welcome our newest board member:
Christina Fernandes, Secretary
Howard Community College
This year has been all about change. As we move forward in these times of uncertainty, our DC Metro chapter board thought it would be appropriate to have our theme for our 2020-2021 year be “Navigating through Change.” COVID-19 impacted everyone from our homes to our workplace. We were forced to work remotely and discontinue our “normal” way of life. Our 2020 graduates were robbed of their commencement ceremonies.
A couple months later social unrest erupted across the nation. This has been a wake-up call for many of our workplaces and has challenged us to rethink concerns about racial equity. Change can make us feel uncomfortable. Feeling uncomfortable can lead us to resist or change. We hope that you will join us for our virtual events this year as we all continue to pivot and reset. Our programming will continue to fall within our learning framework and focus on navigating though change.
