We are here as an official extension of the national College and University Professional Association for Human Resources to represent public and private universities and colleges in the beautiful Washington state. Who we are?

The Washington State Chapter of CUPA-HR is one of 41 chapters that are a part of the national affiliation with CUPA-HR. Pierce College has been a member of national organization for over 16 years. For the 2024-2025, Serena Mitchell, Senior Human Resources Consultant at Pierce College, is serving as the Board President.

 

Fun fact: The Washington Chapter of CUPA-HR was awarded the Western Regional Award and the National Excellence Award in 2024 for our dedication and service delivery outcomes for our members!

 

Our mission is to be the premier Professional Human Resources organization for Higher Education in Washington State.

 

Our vision focuses on:

  • Creating learning and development opportunities that help ensure the present and future professional excellence and success.
  • Proactively influencing Washington State legislature and regulatory issues that impact higher education, human resources and the higher education workforce.
  • Identifying emerging human resources and higher education trends and address their impact on the higher education workforce.
  • Embodying a culture through diversity, inclusion and equitable practices in order to achieve excellence in higher education.

 

Getting Started

We encourage all higher ed HR professionals to join the national organization, but our chapter events and community are open to both members and nonmembers.

Join our board! We are actively seeking new working board members to help us plan chapter events, build relationships, and more! Email one of our current board members for details.
