Spring 2025 Virtual Event

CUPA-HR Northern New England Chapter

The Northern New England CUPA-HR Chapter is pleased to announce our Spring virtual event!

This event will take place over Zoom on Thursday, March 27 from 12 – 1:30pm. Presented with Verrill Dana, LLP we invite you to join us for Navigating the I-9: Are You Prepared for an Audit?

With federal enforcement efforts on the rise, colleges and universities must ensure their I-9 records are accurate, complete, and ready for potential audits. This seminar, led by Verrill attorneys Elizabeth Johnston and Emily Waddell, will provide HR professionals in higher education with the knowledge and tools needed to maintain I-9 compliance and avoid costly penalties.  Attendees will gain valuable insights into conducting internal audits, adopting best practices for accurately completing I-9 forms, and avoiding common I-9 pitfalls.  This session will also provide a foundation to understand what Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) looks for during inspections.

Whether you’re looking to refresh your knowledge or fine-tune your I-9 procedures, this seminar will provide the tools and strategies to help you stay on top of compliance. To make the most of this session, we recommend having a copy of the latest I-9 form on hand for reference.  Take this opportunity to strengthen your compliance efforts and ensure your institution is well-prepared—register today!

The seminar will run for approximately one hour with time afterward for Q&A.
Please note: some questions regarding I-9s are not able to be answered completely on the spot due to the highly detailed nature of I-9s and the related federal guidance.

This session has been approved for 1.5 SHRM Recertification Credits.

Please register and spread the word! We look forward to seeing you there.
