The Northern New England CUPA-HR is proud to present our virtual Fall event on Compensation.

9:30 a.m. Compensation 101: Setting up a Compensation Strategy

Description: Carolyn Cowper VP of Compensation and Career Strategies, New York, for Segal Consulting will provide you with the foundational knowledge you need to create a compensation philosophy to attract and retain a quality workforce.

10:45 a.m. Compensation 201: Making Better Use of Market Data to Design a Compensation Program

Description: Justin Hampton, CCP, founder of Compensation Tool, will discuss how to get more out of your survey data than you may have considered. In this presentation we will discuss how job levels and surveys can be aligned to your own, how to derive to graphic differentials from your surveys, how to fill in the gaps, and other data sources that you should consider to make sure you are paying competitively.

Presenter Bios:

Justin Hampton, CCP is the founder of Compensation Tool, a market pricing and market data solution that brings a pragmatic approach to managing compensation benchmarking.  Hampton, a self-proclaimed compensation nerd with a passion for making compensation simple and easily understood yet aligned to competitive and equitable pay, has more than 15 years of experience leading compensation practices at companies such as Greyhound Lines, Starbucks, and Big Fish Games.  His areas of expertise include base pay administration, short-term incentive plan design, market data, and making compensation pragmatic.

 

 

 

 

Carolyn Cowper, is the Vice President, Compensation and Career Strategies at Segal. With nearly 20 years of experience in human capital consulting, with a focus on compensation and performance management assessment and design in higher education. She provides innovative solutions for attracting and retaining key talent as well as aligning the organizational structure and employees to the institutional strategy. She leads many of the firm’s compensation-related initiatives across a variety of industries. Ms. Cowper has experience working with both public and private higher education institutions of varying sizes, from large research, doctoral institutions to small to mid-size liberal arts colleges. She earned a BA degree in Economics and Sociology from Cornell University and an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business. She has received the firm’s prestigious Quality Star Award.

  • A fee of $25  is charged for individuals in non-higher education.
  • Registration opens on November 10.

HRCI and SHRM recertification credits have been submitted for approval.
