Chapter Board Nominations now open!

The CUPA-HR Kansas Chapter board is seeking nominations for two positions effective July 1, 2018.
Chapter President-Elect
Serves as a special aide to the president, and assumes all presidential duties in the absence of the president. In this role, you will serve as chair of the annual conference planning committee, charged with planning and implementing the annual conference and meetings of the chapter. This position serves a one-year term for 2018-19, serves as chapter president for 2019-20, and past president for 2020-21. The appointment of this position requires a three-year service commitment to the board.
Chapter Treasurer
Ensures that the chapter operates on sound fiscal principles. The treasurer is responsible for presenting the chapter’s annual budget and periodic financial reports to keep the board of directors informed of the chapter’s fiscal status. In addition, the treasurer works closely with the conference planning committee to process conference sponsorship funds, conference participant fees and conference expenses. This is a two-year term (July 1, 2018-June 30, 2020).

Cleveland University-Kansas City Welcomes New Human Resource Generalist

Cleveland University-Kansas City is pleased to announce the addition of its new Human Resource Generalist, Lauri A. Brownrigg.  Lauri holds a Bachelor’s degree with a double major in Personnel Administration and in Speech Communications and Human Relations from the University of Kansas.  Additionally, Lauri holds the SPHR certification through the Human Resource Certification institution as well as the SCP certification through the Society for Human Resource Management.  Lauri brings over 30 years of human resource experience and last served as a Regional Human Resource Manager for a national retail organization.  Lauri will work with the Vice President of Human Resources and Organizational Development to plan and administer all human recourse functions of the University.

Member Highlight: Roberta Maldonado Franzen

Roberta Maldonado Franzen, Director of Talent Acquisition at Kansas State University, presented a webinar for the Higher Education Recruitment Consortium (HERC) entitled, “Laying the Foundation for a Diverse and Inclusive University Workforce on May 25, 2017.

Roberta shared insights from her institution, which is actively involved in the recruitment and retention of high caliber, diverse students, faculty, and staff as well as promoting a welcoming and inclusive environment.

Kansas State University established the Office of Diversity and each college has a designated Diversity Point Person to provide insight and guidance. Kansas State University received the prestigious Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) award from Insight Into Diversity magazine for the past three years. Multicultural students account for 15 percent of the student population, a university record and continuing trend.
