Baker University is seeking a dynamic human resources professional to be its next Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). The successful candidate should be familiar with market trends and demonstrate the ability to strategically evaluate resources and assess the value, importance, and quality of practices.
The CHRO is responsible for providing leadership and overseeing all employment, staff development, and administering employment policies managed through the Office of Human Resources for the entire University, and for meeting all compliance requirements in these areas. These responsibilities include overseeing the hiring process; developing and implementing personnel policies; administering compensation and benefit plans; developing and implementing staff development and recognition programs; and supervising Human Resources operations which include the maintenance of personnel files for all employees, enrollment and maintenance of employee benefit and retirement programs, and administering state and federally mandated regulations and programs, such as Worker’s Compensation and Unemployment. This position also serves as the risk manager for the University including administering University property and casualty, general liability, student, and student athletic insurance and claims. The CHRO shall analyze and modify procedures and be familiar with market trends and strategically evaluate resources and assess the value, importance, and quality of practices.
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in human resources is required, with a master’s preferred. A minimum of 5-10 years of progressive administrative and managerial experience in the human resource field is required, preferably at a university or other educational environment. Human Resources certifications are preferred.
